Attention for Those with Rental Income! Tax Return Deadline Approaching

The deadline for submitting the annual income tax return related to earnings obtained last year will end on Monday, April 7th. Income tax taxpayers continue to submit and pay their declarations for the year 2024. Due to requests received during Ramadan Bayram, the deadline for submission was extended from April 2nd to April 7th. Taxpayers subject to income tax due to commercial, agricultural, or professional activities can submit their annual income tax returns electronically. Taxpayers whose income consists of only wages, rent, capital gains, or other earnings can easily and securely fill out their annual income tax returns through the “Digital Tax Office (Ready Declaration System).”
LIMIT ON RENTAL INCOME IS 33 THOUSAND LIRA Real estate owners earning income from property must submit their rental declarations by April 7th as well. Property owners earning at least 33,000 lira annually from residential properties or 230,000 lira from commercial properties will be liable to pay income tax. Those earning below the exemption amount for rental income will not need to submit a declaration.
PENALTY FOR FAILURE TO SUBMIT DECLARATION Taxpayers can pay their taxes through the “gib.gov.tr” website of the Revenue Administration, the Digital Tax Office, and the Revenue Administration mobile application, as well as through bank credit cards or accounts from contracted banks and foreign bank cards operating in other countries. Payments can also be made through the branches of contracted banks, online, via telephone and mobile banking, as well as at PTT branches. Additionally, payments can be made at all tax offices. Income tax accrued from annual income tax returns for earnings in the 2024 calendar year can be paid in two equal installments in April and July of 2025. The first installment, along with stamp duty, can be paid by April 7th, while the second installment can be paid by July 31st. Failure to submit the declaration electronically within the legal deadline will result in a special penalty for taxpayers. Furthermore, failure to accrue tax on time will result in an additional penalty for tax loss and late payment interest.
