Automotive export approaches 3 billion dollars

In February, the Turkish automotive industry made approximately 3 billion dollars in exports. According to the statement from the Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association (OIB), the sector’s exports last month experienced a 4.7% decrease compared to the same period in 2024. The automotive sector, which accounts for 14.3% of Turkey’s total exports, saw the highest foreign sales in the “supply industry” group with exports totaling 1.224 billion dollars. In February, passenger car exports decreased by 0.6% to 920 million dollars compared to the same month last year, while bus-minibus-midibus exports declined by 9.5% to 211 million dollars. The export of motor vehicles for the transport of goods was recorded at 480 million dollars, while tractor exports stood at 116 million dollars. Export to Germany, the country with the highest exports in the supply industry, decreased by 7% compared to February of last year. Notable export increases were seen in important markets such as Romania with 23%, Spain with 41%, and Czech Republic with 27%. France, the largest market for passenger cars, saw parallel export levels compared to the same period last year. Export increases of 68% to Spain, 90% to Slovenia, and 251% to Portugal were recorded in significant markets. In the motor vehicles for the transport of goods group, triple-digit export increases were seen with 120% to Germany and 198% to Spain. In the bus-minibus-midibus product group, a 63% increase was recorded to the United Kingdom, with triple-digit increases to Poland and Serbia. The highest export destination, Germany, received products worth 470 million dollars with a 7% increase. Export to France decreased by 5% to 316 million dollars, while exports to the United Kingdom decreased by 17% to 299 million dollars.
