Avalanche in Japan: Over 100 People Trapped
In Japan’s northeast region of Fukushima, over 100 people have been trapped in hot spring hotels due to two avalanches.
The town where Tsuchiya Hot Spring is located in Fukushima was hit by heavy snowfall.
Two avalanches around 4:00 and 11:00 local time blocked roads, leaving over 100 people stranded in two hotels in the town.
After the two avalanches, the snow depth in the town reached 1.5 meters, closing off the roads that lead to the hot spring hotels. Authorities reported that snow removal efforts are intensively ongoing to reopen the closed roads.
