Calculation of the 2025 pension holiday bonus increase: How much will the Ramadan pension holiday bonuses be?

Retirees from SSK, Bağ-Kur, and the Retirement Fund, along with other beneficiaries, have turned their focus to the increase in bonuses with the arrival of the Ramadan month. Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan, had announced that work will be done regarding bonus payments. Bonus payments will be deposited into accounts through banks where the pensions are received. The Ramadan holiday will begin at the end of March this year with the bonuses expected to be deposited into accounts a week before. Calculations have been made for pension holiday bonuses based on possible rate increases. So, how much will the pension holiday bonuses be in 2025? Here are the developments on the increase of Ramadan pension holiday bonuses…The Ramadan holiday will begin this year on March 30th. Before the 3-day holiday break, pensioners’ bonus payments will be transferred into their accounts. Last year, bonuses were increased by 50%, reaching 3,000 liras. Pension bonuses are paid before both the Ramadan and Eid al-Adha holidays. The January increase for SSK, Bağ-Kur, and the Retirement Fund retirees was 15.75%, and retirees are now focused on bonus increase rates. Since there was only one increase per year in the pension bonuses in previous periods, an increase of more than 15.75% is expected. Calculations have been made for possible bonus increase rates of 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%. Here are the calculations for the pension holiday bonus increase…In previous years, pension holiday bonuses were deposited into accounts up to a week before the holiday. This year, pension bonuses are expected to be deposited into accounts between March 24th and 28th, 2025. Pension holiday bonuses will be deposited into accounts through the banks where the pensions are received, based on the allocation number’s last digit. It is expected that the increase in pension holiday bonuses will be over 15%, and the Ministry of Treasury and Finance is continuing its work on bonus increase. A specific rate for the increase has not yet been announced by the authorities. Once the rate is determined, the bonus will be discussed in the Turkish Parliament and, if approved, will come into effect with the signature of President Erdoğan. If an increase of 15.75% is made, the pension holiday bonuses will be 3,472 liras. Considering inflation, if a similar increase as the previous year (2024) occurs, bonuses will increase by 50% and reach 4,500 liras. In case of a 40% increase, bonuses will increase by 1,200 liras and reach 4,200 liras. The exact rate increases will be determined after the work is completed. Retirees, including those from SSK, Bağ-Kur, and the Retirement Fund, as well as new retirees who qualify for retirement before the holiday, will be eligible for bonuses.
Those receiving old-age pensions can receive bonuses, while widows and orphans receiving pensions will benefit from payments based on their share ratio. For example, those who receive 70% of the retirement bonus from widow’s pension will benefit from the bonus at that rate, while those receiving 30% as death benefit will also benefit from the bonus based on this share. Bonuses will be paid to those receiving duty disability allowances, disability pensions, death pensions, continuous incapacity benefit, relatives of martyrs, veterans, combat veterans, security guards, champion athletes, and civilians affected by terrorism.
