According to Reuters, an Arab plan for Gaza will oppose U.S. President Donald Trump’s desire to establish a “Middle East Riviera” in Gaza. Trump had angered the Arab world by unexpectedly announcing that the U.S. would take over Gaza, relocate the over 2 million Palestinian population to neighboring countries, and turn it into the “Riviera of the Middle East.” WHAT DOES EGYPT’S PLAN INCLUDE? Egypt’s reconstruction plan for Gaza will cost $53 billion. The overall reconstruction will take 5 years. The 112-page plan includes maps showing how Gaza lands will be rebuilt and dozens of images of colorful housing, gardens, and community centers generated by artificial intelligence. The plan also includes a commercial port, a technology center, and beach hotels. The draft will support the establishment of a Gaza Affairs Administrative Committee consisting of authorized individuals from the Gaza Strip for the transition period in Palestine. The overall reconstruction will take 5 years. Early recovery will last for 6 months, involving clearing debris and setting up temporary housing. The first phase will last for 2 years and will cover the construction of 200,000 housing units costing $20 billion. The second phase, lasting 2.5 years, will entail building another 200,000 housing units and reviving Gaza’s airport, costing $30 billion.
