Call from the Business World for Credit Card Limit Increase to 5 Million Lira

The business world has demanded an increase in the credit card limit for tax payments to 5 million lira. Gürsel Baran, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO), requested that the current credit card limit for tax payments, which is currently 1 million lira, be raised to 5 million lira. According to a statement from ATO, Baran and Deputy Chairman Temel Aktay visited the President of the Revenue Administration (GİB) Bekir Bayrakdar at his office. During the meeting, Baran evaluated the implications of global and domestic developments on the real sector and conveyed his request to Bayrakdar to update the upper limit for tax payments with a credit card from the current level of 1 million lira to 5 million lira. Baran noted that ATO had previously raised the issue of tax payments via credit card, stating: “The Revenue Administration had initiated the implementation. The limit is currently at 1 million lira. With digitalization, cash usage has decreased, and all transactions are inevitably done with credit cards. Due to the inadequacy of the current limit for tax payments, we requested an increase to 5 million lira. Mr. Bayrakdar responded positively to the issue and instructed for work to be done. Elevating the limits will contribute to an increase in tax collection levels with credit cards and stimulate economic revitalization.”
