Ceasefire in Gaza ends today: Is there hope for the second stage?

Basem Naim, a member of Hamas’ political bureau, stated that there has been “no progress” for the second stage of the ceasefire in Gaza.
The United Nations food agency, World Food Programme, announced that they have reached 1 million Palestinians in Gaza in the first phase of the ceasefire agreement.
The agency stated, “The ceasefire must continue. There is no turning back.” A senior Hamas official mentioned that no progress has been made so far in the negotiations for the second stage of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, and it is uncertain whether talks will resume. The first phase of the ceasefire had put an end to fifteen months of conflict in the Gaza Strip and secured the release of 33 hostages in exchange for around 2,000 Palestinian prisoners. The first stage is coming to an end today. However, according to the agreement reached between Israel and Hamas, while negotiations for the second stage to end the war and allow the remaining hostages to return home continue, conflicts will not resume. Talks for the second stage are being held in Cairo, with Israeli, Qatari, Egyptian, and U.S. officials discussing the terms. Hamas did not participate in the meetings, but their position was represented through Egyptian and Qatari mediators. Basem Naim, a member of Hamas’ political bureau, emphasized that there is “no progress” towards a resolution. Naim stated he has “no idea” when negotiations might resume.
