Central Bank Reserves Approaching Peak

The total reserves of the Central Bank increased by $1.517 billion last week, nearing a record level of $167.492 billion. The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) disclosed its weekly money and bank statistics. As of February 7, the CBRT’s gross forex reserves decreased by $382 million to $96.929 billion. Gross forex reserves stood at $97.311 billion on January 31. Meanwhile, gold reserves increased by $1.899 billion, rising from $68.664 billion to $70.563 billion. Consequently, the Central Bank’s total reserves climbed from $165.975 billion to $167.492 billion in the week of February 7, marking a $1.517 billion increase from the previous week.

Reserves hit a record level of $167.560 billion in the week of January 24.
