Central Bank to Meet with Banks

Today, the Central Bank will meet with the management of the Turkish Banks Association. Fatih Karahan, President of the Central Bank, is expected to meet with the management of the Turkish Banks Association (TBB) today. The technical meeting, which will also be attended by TCMB Deputy Governor Cevdet Akçay and TCMB officials, is expected to start at 15.00 today. Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek also met with the TBB Board of Directors one Friday evening. Şimşek stated that significant gains have been achieved thanks to the economic program, and emphasized that all necessary measures will continue to be taken to protect and enhance these gains. He stated, “We have sufficient tools at our disposal. There is no hesitation in the implementation of the program. We are working in close coordination with our institutions.” Şimşek also mentioned that fluctuations in the markets, which are considered to be temporary, are being closely monitored in coordination with all relevant institutions, and that measures are being determined as needed, with the program being resolutely maintained. TBB Board Chairman Alpaslan Çakar stated that the sector believes in the program, provides support, and works in very close communication and coordination with the economic management.
