Cheap meat grabbed by butchers and restaurant owners, not left for the public!

During the Ramadan month, meat prices were fixed in 1,750 markets in Istanbul and Ankara. Butchers and restaurant owners grabbed cheap meat in bulk, leaving none for the public. A protocol signed between the Meat and Milk Institution and the Turkey Retailers Federation kept meat prices stable throughout Ramadan. In 1,500 markets in Istanbul and 250 in Ankara, meat is being sold cheaper compared to the market price. However, this led to another issue. When butchers and restaurant owners bought large quantities of cheap meat, there was no meat left for the public. As a result, a sales quota was imposed on meat. Market employees are working extra shifts to distinguish between customers and restaurant owners.
