China Conducts Military Exercise with Live Ammunition Around Taiwan

China continues its military exercise around Taiwan in the East China Sea using live ammunition. During the exercise, Taiwan identified 76 aircraft and 15 warships belonging to China.

China is continuing the military exercise it started yesterday around Taiwan, with which it has a sovereignty dispute.

An announcement by the People’s Liberation Army Eastern Theater Command stated that the PLA’s ground forces conducted a military exercise with long-range live ammunition in the East China Sea under the “Strait Thunder-2025A” exercise.

Colonel Shi Yi, spokesperson for the Eastern Theater Command, stated that the exercise included precise attacks on simulated targets such as ports and energy facilities, achieving the desired results.

An announcement made by the Taiwanese Ministry of Defense in the morning stated that in the last 24 hours, 76 aircraft and 15 warships belonging to China were identified around the island.

SOVEREIGNTY DISPUTE BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES

While the Beijing government claims Taiwan is part of China, Taiwan asserts that it is an “independent country.” The Beijing government expresses its willingness to use force to completely unite Taiwan with China under the banner of “peaceful reunification.” China also considers it a “violation of sovereignty” for other countries to have official contacts with Taiwan.
