Chinese message to Israel: “Humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza must end”

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi indicated that responding to violence with violence in the Palestinian issue would create a vicious cycle, calling for an end to the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza for comprehensive and lasting peace. According to a statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Minister Wang met with his Israeli counterpart Gideon Saar at the 61st Munich Security Conference (MSC 2025) held in Germany. During the meeting, Wang emphasized the effective implementation of the ceasefire agreement reached in Gaza and the need to promote comprehensive and lasting peace on that basis, stating that “the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza must end as soon as possible.” Wang pointed out that responding to violence with violence would only create a vicious cycle, stating that the only way to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East is to find a two-state solution in which Israel and Palestine live together in peace. Wang reminded that the Chinese and Jewish people supported each other in the fight against fascism 80 years ago and expressed that practical cooperation has progressed between the two countries in the last 30 years since diplomatic relations were established. Wang stated that China views its relationship with Israel from a long-term perspective and is ready to work together for the development of bilateral relations defined as “innovative comprehensive partnership.”
