Chinese woman detained by US Border Patrol commits suicide

Democratic Party Congresswoman Jayapal revealed that a Chinese woman detained by the Border Patrol due to her visa expiration committed suicide. As President Donald Trump continues to toughen anti-immigrant policies in the US, it was announced that a Chinese woman detained by the Border Patrol for staying in the country after her visa expired committed suicide. The death of the 52-year-old Chinese woman was made public by Democratic Party Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal. According to The Guardian, Jayapal stated that the Chinese citizen was initially detained in the state of California for her B1/B2 visa expiration. She was then transferred to the Yuma Border Patrol station in Arizona, where she died on March 29. Jayapal mentioned that the Border Patrol officers did not check on the well-being of the woman before her death. She emphasized the need for Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to provide answers regarding the lack of necessary procedures and inadequate monitoring as she was taken into custody and later died.
