Close monitoring of divorces! Thousands of pensions canceled, to be recovered with interest

The Social Security Institution has started closely monitoring fraudulent divorces. The orphan pensions of 2,404 people who are still living with their ex-spouse despite getting divorced have been canceled. Steps are being taken to recover the paid allowances with interest. Additionally, the insurance of 94,000 people has also been canceled. In its 2024 audits, the Social Security Institution identified 2,404 individuals who had divorced their spouse to claim orphan pensions but continued to live with their ex-partner. The institution is continuing its inspections on undeclared employment, fake workplaces, fraudulent insurance, and other irregularities through a team of around 3,000 inspectors. Last year, the institution conducted inspections on 124,982 cases related to undeclared employment, and 12,684 cases related to fake workplaces and fraudulent insurance, in addition to maintaining efforts against fraudulent divorces. FRAUDULENT PENSION RECIPIENTS APPREHENDED In 2024, a total of 3,002 inspections were conducted nationwide to those who divorced to claim orphan pensions but were still living with their ex-spouse. In these inspections, it was found that 2,404 individuals were fraudulently receiving allowances through fake divorces. Legal action has been taken against these individuals, and steps are being taken by the Social Security Institution to recover the allowances paid with interest. INSURANCE OF 94,000 PEOPLE CANCELED During the 2024 audits by the Social Security Institution, 2,114 fake workplaces were uncovered, leading to the cancellation of the insurance of a total of 94,740 individuals who were not actually working but were shown as insured through fake workplaces. A total of 2,036,732,000 Turkish lira in fines were imposed on these workplaces due to undeclared employment. Furthermore, efforts to include these workplaces and employees into the social security system resulted in the insurance of 21,634 individuals and the registration of 518 workplaces.
