Conflict between Ethiopian and Kenyan Fishermen: 13 Dead, 3 Injured, 22 Missing

In a clash between Ethiopian and Kenyan fishermen, 13 people lost their lives, 3 were injured, and 22 went missing. The conflict erupted between Ethiopian and Kenyan fishermen in the Lopeimukat and Natira areas near the Omo River on the Kenya-Ethiopia border. As a result of the clash, 13 Ethiopians lost their lives, while 3 were injured. Meanwhile, 22 Kenyans are reported missing. Jeremiah Lomorukai, the Governor of Kenya’s Turkana region, stated that the clashes broke out last Saturday night, during which 15 boats were reportedly stolen. Lomorukai also mentioned that 6 fishermen from the Dasenech ethnic group in Ethiopia were rescued and returned to their country. Kenya’s Interior Minister, Kipchumba Murkomen, announced that additional security forces have been deployed to the border and that efforts are being made to establish peace between the two communities by reaching out to the Ethiopian side.
