TRAGIC ACCIDENT ON NORTH MARMARA HIGHWAY: FOUR CASUALTIES / NEWSConsecutive accidents highlight the need for drivers to be more careful, especially in rainy weather conditions. Automotive and Driving Expert Turgut Yüksekdağ points out that the roads are more slippery, especially in the early hours of rainy weather. Yüksekdağ evaluates, “The speed was not reduced in this accident, assuming that there was a vehicle or a truck there. It is advised to pass the toll booths at a maximum speed of 30 kilometers, but drivers can often come in too fast.” Highlighting that accidents at toll booths generally occur because the rear vehicle does not slow down, assuming that the front vehicle will use the Fast Pass System, Yüksekdağ warns, “They think they will pass automatically, but they need to consider that there are stationary vehicles paying or any other reason for stopping.”
Yüksekdağ draws attention to road hypnosis, saying, “There is such a thing as road hypnosis. Especially if you are traveling at a certain speed without concentration on the road, you can have road hypnosis. In fact, you may not be aware of where you are on the road and what you will encounter. Another important aspect is that we often see drivers dealing with their phones.”
Emphasizing that driving a car requires full concentration every minute and every second, Yüksekdağ warns, “You need to concentrate on the road. Concentrate on your car. Use your vehicle according to the weather conditions.”
