Construction Costs Reach Four-Year Low

The construction costs increased by 26.61% annually in January. Consequently, construction cost inflation hit the lowest level in four years. The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) released the construction cost index data for January. According to the data, the index rose by 9.1% compared to the previous month and 26.61% compared to the same month last year. As a result, construction costs hit the lowest level in four years on an annual basis. Costs also recorded the fastest monthly increase in a year. The material index increased by 1.96% monthly, while the labor index rose by 23.58%. On an annual basis, the material index showed a 22.39% increase, and the labor index increased by 34.37%. The building construction cost index saw a 9.39% increase compared to the previous month in January and a 27.09% rise compared to the same month last year. The material index rose by 1.91% compared to the previous month, and the labor index increased by 24.14%. Additionally, compared to the same month last year, the material index showed a 23.28% increase, and the labor index rose by 33.76%. The construction cost index for non-building structures increased by 8.13% compared to the previous month in January and by 25.05% compared to the same month last year. In these structures, the material index rose by 2.14% from the previous month, and the labor index increased by 21.58%. Furthermore, compared to the same month last year, the material index showed a 19.67% increase, and the labor index rose by 36.65%.
