Control for Inflation Adjustment

Taxpayers are under scrutiny in inflation accounting practices. Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek stated that the purpose of these audits is not to collect taxes, but to ensure the correct implementation of inflation adjustment. The increased base in inflation accounting practice has reached nearly 13.5 billion liras. The expected difference in base to be increased after audits is around 67 billion liras. The Ministry of Treasury and Finance continues its audits to ensure the correct application of inflation accounting. Minister Mehmet Şimşek emphasized that the aim of these audits is not to collect taxes, but to ensure the proper implementation of inflation adjustment. Şimşek said, “With the success in the disinflation process, the need for such an adjustment will be eliminated.” THESE TAXPAYERS WILL ALSO BE REVIEWED The Tax Inspection Board is continuing its audit activities targeting taxpayers of various scales. As a result, the identified base difference has exceeded 80 billion liras. This amount is expected to increase even more after new audits. Taxpayers who do not apply inflation accounting correctly and exploit it will also be subject to review.
