Date set for Turkmen gas supply

The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, has provided a specific timeline for the Turkmen gas supply. Minister Bayraktar announced that 1.3 billion cubic meters of Turkmen gas will be supplied through Iran by the end of the year. Bayraktar emphasized that diversifying Turkey’s gas supply has been a long-standing goal, stating, “We want to differentiate and diversify Turkey’s gas supply. We aim to procure gas from various countries. Therefore, this is part of the plan.”
He also mentioned that they have been working for a long time to secure gas from different countries through liquefied natural gas facilities. This pipeline delivery, after more than 20 years, will be the first time Turkey receives gas from a country beyond its borders.
This milestone is significant as, despite discussions dating back to the 1990s, Turkmenistan has not supplied even a single cubic meter of gas to Turkey in nearly 30 years. Hopefully, this will change by March 1st.
