Death toll in earthquakes in Myanmar rises to 2,056: National mourning declared in the country

The death toll in the two earthquakes measuring 7.7 and 6.4 in magnitude in Myanmar has reached 2,056, with approximately 3,900 people injured. According to Xinhua, the military regime’s information team in Myanmar made a statement regarding the earthquakes that occurred on March 28 in the country. The statement mentioned that 2,056 people have died so far, approximately 3,900 people have been injured, and around 270 people are still missing due to the earthquakes. On the other hand, it was reported that in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand where the earthquake was strongly felt, the number of deaths has risen to 17, with 32 injured and 83 people still missing. Two earthquakes measuring 7.7 and 6.4 struck near the Sagaing region in central Myanmar, causing extensive destruction in the country, raising concerns about further loss of lives.
NATIONAL MOURNING FOR 1 WEEK The Myanmar government announced a national mourning from March 31 to April 6, where flags will be flown at half-mast across the country in memory of those who lost their lives in the earthquake.
