In Trabzon, when the anchovies decreased at the fishmonger stalls, people’s choice turned to salmon. At the fishmonger stalls located in the Moloz area in Trabzon’s Ortahisar district, there are anchovies, red mullet, salmon, sea bass, bream, trout, and a small amount of anchovies. Fishmonger Emin Avcı stated that the weather has not been favorable for the past week, resulting in a decrease in the amount of fish caught from the sea. Avcı mentioned that during Ramadan, sea bass, red mullet, and salmon are more preferred, saying: “We sell salmon for 175 lira per kilogram, sea bass and trout for 100 lira, bream for 300 lira, and red mullet and anchovies for 200 lira. Some stalls also have anchovies, which are sold for around 150 lira per kilogram. It can be said that the time for anchovies has passed, as people are not choosing it much.”
