Decrease in the Current Account Deficit of the US

In the United States, the current account deficit decreased by 2 percent in the fourth quarter of last year to 303.9 billion dollars. The US Department of Commerce released the data on the current account balance for the period of October-December 2024. According to the report, the country’s current account deficit narrowed by 2 percent in the fourth quarter of last year compared to the previous quarter, reaching 303.9 billion dollars. Market expectations for the deficit in this period were around 330 billion dollars. The US current account deficit was recorded at 310.3 billion dollars in the third quarter of last year. The ratio of the country’s current account deficit to GDP was calculated as 4.1 percent in the last quarter of last year. This rate was at 4.2 percent in the third quarter of last year.
