Denial of the Claim of 20 Thousand Lira Limit from Banks

Claims were made that cash withdrawals below 20 thousand liras can only be made through ATMs. The Turkish Banking Association has clarified that these reports are baseless. It was alleged that banks have implemented a new practice for cash withdrawals below 20 thousand liras. It was stated that withdrawals below this amount can only be made through ATMs. The Turkish Banking Association (TBB) made a statement regarding the news circulating on social media. The statement from TBB emphasized that no such decision has been made and the reports are not accurate. The statement included the following words: “Some media outlets on digital platforms claim that banks are directing their customers to use ATMs instead of the bank tellers for transactions up to 20 thousand liras, referring to statements from the Turkish Banking Association. There is no decision or statement from the Turkish Banking Association regarding this matter.”
