Discovery of 11.5 kilograms of virus-infected tomato seeds

A total of 11.5 kilograms of speckled mosaic virus-infected tomato seeds seized at Antalya Airport has been returned to China. The Food and Control General Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced on social media that 11.5 kilograms of Chinese-origin tomato seeds were intercepted upon entry at Antalya Airport. The statement noted that inspectors at the airport (officially trained and authorized by the ministry for control) checked the seeds and found that they tested positive for Tomato Mottle Mosaic Virus (ToMMV), leading to their return to the sender.
