Discovery of 11.5 Kilograms of Virus-Infected Tomato Seeds at Antalya Airport

The 11.5-kilogram spotted mosaic virus-infected tomato seeds seized at Antalya Airport were returned to China. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s General Directorate of Food and Control announced on their social media account that 11.5 kilograms of Chinese-origin tomato seeds intended to enter the country were intercepted at Antalya Airport. The statement noted that inspectors at the airport (authorized control officers trained by the ministry for official inspections) examined the seeds and stated, “Due to the detection of the Tomato Mottle Mosaic Virus (ToMMV) in the inspection and samples, they were returned to the sender.”
