Donald Trump’s ‘Crypto Summit’ Falls Short of Expectations

The Crypto Summit held at the White House had raised high hopes in the crypto community. However, the content and agenda of the summit painted a picture far from meeting expectations.
The event, led by US President Donald Trump, fell short of delivering concrete messages on important policy changes and regulatory approaches towards cryptocurrencies, opting instead for unexpected topics and symbolic gestures.
FOOTBALL AGENDA INSTEAD OF CRYPTO
The summit held on Friday, March 7, was expected to spark significant discussions on the future of crypto and blockchain in the US. However, it came as a big surprise to the participants when FIFA President Gianni Infantino gave the opening speech instead of Trump. Infantino not only introduced a new FIFA cup in the shape of an armillary sphere resembling the Game of Thrones’ intro but also raised the idea of a potential token that could be issued on behalf of FIFA.
Emphasizing that the global football economy is worth $170 billion, with only 30% of it happening in Europe, Infantino highlighted FIFA’s willingness to launch a cryptocurrency targeting five billion football fans worldwide.
Trump showed interest in FIFA’s desire to explore the US potential in this field, stating, “It could actually be quite a significant amount of money.”
