Economy Minister Himmati dismissed in Iran

Iran’s Economy Minister Abdunnasir Himmati, accused of being ineffective in the face of economic problems, has been dismissed from his position.
The Iranian Parliament accepted the motion of no confidence against Economy Minister Abdunnasir Himmati. The motion was presented for a vote after 6 hours of debates during an open session.
The motion was passed with 182 votes in favor, 89 against, and 1 abstention. As a result, Himmati was impeached from his position for failing to obtain a vote of confidence from the Parliament. A group of MPs in the Parliament had presented a motion of no confidence against Economy Minister Abdunnasir Himmati, who was blamed for worsening economic issues. Himmati was accused of being indifferent to the excessive rise in foreign exchange and gold prices. The motion of no confidence against Himmati was accepted on February 19 with the signatures of 91 MPs.
