Emine Erdoğan Visits the Yunus Emre Institute in Indonesia

Accompanying President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on his official visit to the Indonesian capital Jakarta, Emine Erdoğan visited the Yunus Emre Institute (YEI). Welcomed by students carrying Turkish and Indonesian flags, Emine Erdoğan engaged with the students closely, touring the institute to learn about their work. She also visited the Archives Exhibition showcasing historical documents on Ottoman-Indonesian relations from 1567 to 1920. After the exhibition, Emine Erdoğan visited the classrooms where Turkish lessons are given and the library, chatting with Indonesian students. In a class discussing “My Dream in Turkey,” students read out the texts they wrote about their dreams concerning Turkey. Emine Erdoğan also examined the drawings of Turkey made by the students at the institute, discussing the artwork and Turkey with them. Emine Erdoğan shared a post on her social media account about her visit to the institute, stating, “As we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Indonesia this year, we are actually witnessing the legacy of a friendship that dates back from the 16th century to the present day.”
