With Eid al-Fitr fast approaching, the attention of millions of retirees is now on the increase in holiday bonuses. While the percentage increase in retirement pensions, which rise twice a year, was 15.75 percent, the expectations for holiday bonuses have increased. Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan previously stated that they will work on the holiday bonus. The expectation for the increase in holiday bonuses ranges from 20% to 40%. Particularly, with the expectation of a 35% increase, the holiday bonus will exceed the limit of 4,000 liras and reach 4,050 liras. In the case of a 40% increase, retirees will receive bonuses totaling 4,200 liras.Not only SSI, Bağ-Kur, and Pension Fund retirees will benefit from retirement holiday bonus payments. Elderly allowance (at 65), duty disability pension, disability pension, death pension, continuous incapacity benefit, and death benefits recipients can also benefit. Additionally, bereaved families, veterans, combat veterans, security guards, champion athletes, and civilians affected by terrorism will be able to benefit from bonuses during both Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. Since the dates of Eid al-Fitr are calculated according to the Islamic calendar, they fall on different days each year in the Gregorian calendar. Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated 10 days earlier this year compared to the previous year. According to the calendar announced by the Presidency of Religious Affairs, Eid al-Fitr will be observed on March 30 – April 1, 2025. The retirement bonuses for Eid al-Fitr are expected to be deposited into accounts a week before the holiday.
