Explosion of natural gas in Malaysia: 112 people injured

A violent explosion occurred at 08:10 local time in Putra Heights, a region located in Selangor state of Malaysia.
Following the explosion in the natural gas pipeline passing near residential areas, a fire broke out and spread to surrounding homes and vehicles for hours.
Firefighters evacuating the area commenced rescue efforts, with initial reports indicating that 112 people were injured and 49 households were damaged. Officials in Selangor state declared the Putra Heights Mosque as an emergency center.

In a written statement by the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, it was reported that the gas flow was cut off in the pipeline after the explosion, but the fire continued to burn controlled due to the trapped gas inside.
The explosion was determined to have occurred in a natural gas pipeline owned by Malaysia’s national oil company Petronas. An investigation into the cause of the explosion has been initiated, and damage assessment work in the area is ongoing.
