The Ministry of Commerce has released the export data for the January-February period. While exports increased in 34 provinces, precious stones topped the list in Istanbul’s exports with 909 million dollars. According to the data announced by the Ministry of Commerce, Istanbul was the province with the highest exports last month, with 4.34 billion dollars. The city’s exports decreased by 0.3% compared to the same month last year. Following Istanbul, Kocaeli ranked second with 2.67 billion dollars and a 5.5% increase, while Izmir followed with 1.87 billion dollars and a 12.4% decrease. The section on precious or semi-precious stones led Istanbul’s exports with 909.895 million dollars, followed by knitted clothing and accessories with 427.56 million dollars, and boilers, machines with 402.5 million dollars. In Kocaeli, motor vehicles on roads became the sector with the most exports, totaling 1.043 billion dollars. This was followed by 269.707 million dollars worth of mineral fuels and oils, and 187.241 million dollars worth of electrical machinery and equipment. Mineral fuels and oils topped Izmir’s exports with 542.755 million dollars, followed by 174.989 million dollars worth of iron and steel, and 145.837 million dollars worth of boilers, machines. The United Arab Emirates ranked first in Istanbul’s exports with 344.201 million dollars, followed by Germany with 314.535 million dollars and the United States with 299.827 million dollars. Kocaeli made the most exports to Germany, totaling 248.911 million dollars, followed by the United Kingdom with 243.348 million dollars, and Italy with 183.747 million dollars. Germany was the top destination for Izmir’s exports with 174.878 million dollars, followed by Italy with 173.761 million dollars, and the Netherlands with 111.786 million dollars. Therefore, during the January-February period, 10 provinces made exports exceeding 1 billion dollars, while 34 provinces increased their exports.
