Export Increased in 59 Chapters Last Year

Turkey’s exports increased in 59 out of the 97 chapters listed by the Ministry of Trade compared to the previous year. The highest increase was seen in motor vehicles. Turkey’s exports reached $261.855 billion in 2024, showing a 2.4% increase compared to the previous year. According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), total exports for the previous year were recorded as $255.627 billion. When Turkey’s exports are examined according to the 97 chapters in which products are classified, 59 chapters saw an increase in exports last year compared to the previous year, while 38 chapters saw a decrease. In recent years, records of the Republic’s history have been broken in exports, and the performance of leading sectors played a significant role in the success achieved. VEHICLES BEAR THE BURDEN OF EXPORTS Last year, the chapter with the highest increase in exports was “motor vehicles, tractors, bicycles, motorcycles, and other land vehicles, their parts, accessories.” There was a $1.610 billion increase in the export of these products. The iron and steel chapter followed the motor vehicles chapter with a $1.323 billion increase. In 54 out of the 59 chapters where exports increased, there was at least a $1 million increase, with 22 of them exceeding $100 million. In 2 chapters, the increase was at the billion-dollar level. The chapter that showed the largest decrease in exports compared to the previous year during this period was “unwoven clothing and accessories.” The export of these products saw a $652.531 million decrease last year compared to the previous year.
