Farewell to the Seas: Fishing Ban Begins

Fishermen in the Aegean Region will bid farewell to the fishing season on April 15th. Those who caught the most sardines and anchovies this year will end the season with more fish than last year. The fishing season, which started on September 1st in the seas, is coming to an end. About 1,800 fishermen from the Aegean are working tirelessly in the season that will end on April 15th. Setting off in the choppy waters of the sea saying “In the name of God”, fishermen chase after the treasures of the deep and then turn their catches into seafood products in Izmir. The fish are then sent from here to all corners of Turkey and abroad. Aegean fishermen delivered the most sardines and anchovies to the market this fishing season. Despite a fruitful first four months of the season, fishermen could not achieve what they wanted in fishing after January due to the increasing wind and water temperature.
