Hamas announced the names of the Israelis they will release in the 5th round of prisoner exchange in Gaza under the ceasefire agreement. In a statement issued by Hamas’ armed wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, it was stated that 3 Israeli male prisoners will be released today as part of the agreement. The statement noted that the prisoners to be released are Eli Sharabi, Or Levy, and Ohad Ben Ami. It is known that Ohad Ben Ami holds dual citizenship of Germany and Israel. The statement mentioned that the list of prisoners has been delivered to the mediators. The ISRAELI SIDE ACCEPTED THE LIST AS ACCEPTABLE According to Yedioth Ahronot newspaper, the Israeli side has declared that the list delivered to the mediators is acceptable. The Israeli media previously claimed that Hamas delayed handing over the names of the prisoners to Israel due to alleged violations of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement in Gaza.
183 PALESTINIANS TO BE RELEASED IN EXCHANGE FOR 3 ISRAELI PRISONERS Following the handover of the 3 Israeli men to the Red Cross teams in Gaza, the release of 183 Palestinians from Israeli prisons is expected. According to a statement from the Prisoners Media Office affiliated with Hamas, the Palestinians to be released consist of 18 serving life sentences, 54 sentenced to lengthy prison terms, and 111 detained in the Gaza Strip after October 7, 2023. CEASEFIRE AND PRISONER EXCHANGE AGREEMENT BETWEEN ISRAEL AND HAMAS The ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement reached between Hamas and Israel came into effect on Sunday, January 19 at 12:15 GMT. In the first four rounds of prisoner exchange, 583 Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons and 13 Israelis and 5 Thais from Gaza were released. The ceasefire agreement, consisting of three stages, is expected to see the release of over 1900 Palestinians and 33 Israelis in the 42-day first stage.
