First harvest of early plums in Eskisehir: Selling at a high price

The kilogram price of the early plums harvested in the town of Eskisehir is set at 2,250 Turkish Liras. Due to cold weather, the first harvest of early plums in the Değirmendere neighborhood of Eskisehir’s Silifke district was delayed by 20 days. During the initial harvest, producers gathered 10 kilograms of plums. The early plums collected from approximately 100 acres of covered greenhouses were packaged in 100-gram bags and sent to both the domestic and international markets. Dealer Cihan Kaplan mentioned that the plums they collected are currently being exported to major cities in the country and to Dubai and Qatar in the international market. Kaplan stated, “Under normal circumstances, if the harvest had not been delayed and early exports had been made, the price per kilogram would have been 5,500 Turkish Liras. However, at present, the prices range from 2,000 to 2,250 Turkish Liras. Nevertheless, we are still content with the prices.”
