Tomorrow, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will attend a meeting in London on Ukraine, organized by the UK’s capital. Before the summit, Fidan spoke with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov on the phone today, discussing the latest developments regarding the Russia-Ukraine war.
According to diplomatic sources, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is set to represent President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Ukraine themed meeting in London tomorrow. At the meeting, it is expected that Minister Fidan will exchange views on topics related to the Russia-Ukraine war, including US President Donald Trump’s recent negotiation-oriented initiative, convey Turkey’s contributions to the process, emphasize Turkey’s efforts towards ending the Russia-Ukraine war with a fair and lasting peace, and confirm Turkey’s support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence. Additionally, Minister Fidan is expected to highlight Turkey’s readiness to continue hosting direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, underscore the importance of achieving lasting security, economic prosperity, and stability in the region during future negotiation periods.
PRE-SUMMIT TALK WITH LAVROV
According to information from sources at the Foreign Ministry, Fidan had a phone conversation today with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov. The conversation focused on the recent developments regarding the Russia-Ukraine war.
UKRAINE MEETING
The Ukraine themed meeting, hosted by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, will address current developments related to the Russia-Ukraine war and issues concerning European security. Turkey, along with Ukraine, Germany, France, Italy, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Finland, Sweden, Czech Republic, Romania, as well as NATO and the EU, have been invited to the meeting.
