Foreign Minister Fidan: Peace is not possible without stopping Israel

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan emphasized that genocide is ongoing in Gaza and Israel continues its expansionist policies, stating that progress should be made based on Egypt’s Gaza plan. According to sources from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Fidan addressed the OIC and Arab League Gaza Contact Group Meeting in Cairo, the capital of Egypt. While this meeting was ongoing, Fidan expressed that genocide, forced displacement, and apartheid are still ongoing in Gaza, highlighting that the Israeli airstrikes on March 18 revealed Israel’s broader agenda. Fidan emphasized that the prevention of humanitarian aid delivery and the targeting of Syrian and Lebanese territories are indicators of Israel’s persistence in this expansionist policy, stating that “Peace is not possible in the region without stopping Israel. Our priority should be to stop the destruction in Gaza and establish a lasting ceasefire. Pressure on Israel must be increased.” Fidan highlighted the need to utilize platforms like the United Nations for an urgent and lasting ceasefire. Foreign Minister Fidan noted that Egypt’s Gaza plan, supported by all OIC countries, provides a constructive framework and progress should be made based on this plan.
