Foreign Trade Deficit Increased in February

In February, exports fell by 1.5 percent to 20.8 billion dollars. Meanwhile, the foreign trade deficit increased by 20.5 percent to 8.2 billion dollars during this period. Trade Minister Ömer Bolat announced the foreign trade figures for February. Exports in February decreased by 1.5 percent compared to the same month last year, amounting to 20.8 billion dollars. Import, on the other hand, increased by 3.8 percent to 28.9 billion dollars. The foreign trade deficit in February rose by 20.5 percent compared to the same month last year, reaching 8.2 billion dollars. In February of 2024, the foreign trade deficit was 6.8 billion dollars. The rate of export coverage of imports during this period decreased by 3.9 percentage points to 71.8 percent compared to the same month last year.
