Forest fire alarm in Japan: 2 prefectures engulfed by flames

Japan has once again fallen victim to forest fires. According to information obtained from local authorities, the forest fires that started in the Okayama and Ehime prefectures yesterday evening spread to a wide area in a short time due to the dry weather.
In Okayama prefecture, at least 250 hectares of forest area turned to ash, with 6 structures damaged by the fire. Evacuation warnings were issued to 893 people living in 403 households. The forest fire in the Ehime prefecture destroyed at least 105 hectares of land.
As a precautionary measure, some local train services were suspended, and some highways were closed to vehicle traffic. Upon the request of the Okayama and Ehime prefectures, SDF personnel were sent to the fire zones to support extinguishing efforts. It was reported that the fight against the flames continues. ONE PERSON LOST THEIR LIFE The forest fire that started in Japan’s Iwate prefecture on February 26 resulted in the death of one person and damage to 171 structures. The fire, which turned 2,900 hectares into ash, led to the evacuation of 4,500 people. The flames were contained in 12 days.
