Gaza ceasefire negotiations: Hamas accepts latest offer

Hamas announced that they have accepted the latest ceasefire offer from Egypt for a long-term peace in Gaza.
Hamas Leader Khalil El Hayya stated, “We accept the latest offer for a ceasefire” regarding the proposal coming from Egypt.
El Hayya also emphasized that Hamas will not disarm as long as the Israeli occupation continues.
5 ISRAELI PRISONERS TO BE RELEASED
It is noted that Hamas has agreed to release 5 Israeli prisoners in exchange for the renewal of the ceasefire and resumption of negotiations for a long-term truce in Gaza mediated by Egypt.
Israel, in response, has issued a counter proposal to the new ceasefire offer presented by mediators. It was reported that the counter proposal was given “in full coordination with the US”.
While the contents of Israel’s response are unknown, according to the ceasefire accepted by Hamas, it will start on the first day of Ramadan and last until April 19th.
ISRAEL RESUMED HEAVY ATTACKS IN GAZA
The Israeli army broke the ceasefire that came into effect in Gaza on January 19th by launching heavy attacks on the morning of March 18th. Since the resumption of Israeli attacks, more than 896 Palestinians, mostly elderly, women, and children, have lost their lives, and over 1984 people have been injured. The number of Palestinians who lost their lives in attacks on the Gaza Strip by Israel since October 7, 2023, has reached 50,251, with 114,025 injured. Israel announced that it will act with “increasing military force” against Hamas for rejecting new ceasefire offers to break the ceasefire. Hamas, on the other hand, stated that “Israel has not kept its promises and has resumed genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip by failing to fulfill its responsibilities in front of the mediator countries and international community.” The Israeli attacks on Gaza began under the shadow of controversial political steps, such as the dismissal of the Shin Bet Director by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
