Gaza Hostage Crisis: Unidentified Corpse Given

Yesterday, Hamas handed over the lifeless bodies of 4 hostages to Israel as part of a hostage and prisoner swap agreement. The Israeli army claimed that one of the corpses delivered does not belong to Shiri Bibas, deeming it a “highly serious violation” of the ceasefire agreement. Through a social media post, the army used the expression, “This unnamed, unidentified corpse.” Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu also stated that Hamas will pay a price for the alleged violation.
In the context of a hostage and prisoner swap, Hamas delivered the lifeless bodies of 4 hostages to Israel yesterday. The identities of three bodies had been disclosed as mother Shiri Bibas and her babies Ariel and Kfir. The Israeli army verified the identities of the babies’ bodies, with the date of death marked as November 2023.
Mismatch in BIBAS’ MOTHER’S DNA
However, it was announced that the DNA samples from the other corpse sent by Hamas did not match those of mother Shiri Bibas. In a statement made through social media, the army confirmed that during the identity verification process, it was determined that one of the received corpses did not belong to Shiri Bibas, and no match could be found with another hostage. This unnamed, unidentified corpse was emphasized as a violation of the agreement by Hamas. Officials stressed that the timely return of the 6 hostages planned for tomorrow was crucial to adhere to the schedule.
FIRST REMARK FROM NETANYAHU
Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu stated in his remarks that Israel will make Hamas pay a price for not releasing the corpse of hostage Shiri Bibas “in accordance with the agreement.” In his video statement, Netanyahu said, “We will act with determination to bring Shiri back home along with all our hostages, both alive and deceased, and ensure that Hamas pays the full price for the violation of the agreement.” Tomorrow, the final exchange of the first stage of the hostage and prisoner swap agreed upon between Hamas and Israel will take place. In return for 6 hostages held by Hamas, a significant number of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails will regain their freedom. The second stage of the agreement, comprising the ceasefire and the swap, remains uncertain.
