Gold Prices Under Pressure Below Record Levels

Gold prices are stuck in a tight range just below record levels. The price of an ounce of gold is hovering around $2,919 today. Meanwhile, a gram of gold is priced at 3,419 Turkish lira. Gold prices have continued to remain near record levels. The day started with an ounce of gold at around $2,919. Trading within a limited band, gold found support amidst uncertainty in global trade and a weakening U.S. dollar. On February 24, gold hit a record high of $2,956 per ounce. Gram and quarter gold prices followed the trend of ounce gold. Gram gold changed hands at 3,419 Turkish lira. Quarter gold, on the other hand, was priced at 5,608 Turkish lira. U.S. President Donald Trump has granted a temporary exemption to American automakers from the 25% tariff imposed on Canada and Mexico. Furthermore, it was mentioned that new exemptions are being considered for sectors negatively affected by comprehensive import tariffs, including agriculture. The Federal Reserve’s Beige Book report indicated that businesses are concerned about uncertainties surrounding the Trump administration’s new policies, particularly tariffs. Markets are closely monitoring U.S. employment data this week. Private sector job growth in the country has fallen to its lowest level in the past seven months. This data confirming a slowdown in the job market has strengthened expectations for an interest rate cut. Non-farm employment data will be released tomorrow.
