Google Maps Reveals the Most Searched Places in Turkey: A Historic Building from Istanbul Leads the List

In celebration of Google Maps’ 20th anniversary, a list was created based on the most searched ancient cities, museums, and parks in various countries, with Turkey featuring 60 ancient ruins, museums, and parks.

To commemorate Google Maps’ 20th anniversary, a study was conducted on the most searched ancient cities, museums, and parks worldwide, resulting in published lists. Turkey’s list included the top 20 cultural sites, 20 museums, and 20 parks. A total of 15 cities from Turkey were represented on the list, with Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara, and Antalya being the most searched cities.

THE MOST SEARCHED PLACE IS GALATA TOWER

Among the most searched places in Turkey, Galata Tower topped the list, followed by Anitkabir and Basilica Cistern. According to Google Maps data, the most searched places in Turkey for 2024 are as follows:

At the top of the list of the most searched parks in Turkey is Gulhane Park in Istanbul, followed by Emirgan Grove. Commenting on the list, Recep Yavuz, Chair of the Tourism Working Group at Antalya City Council, noted that researchers often search for places to visit, gather information, or virtually explore. Yavuz highlighted the significance of the data collected on Google Maps, being indicative of countries’ worldwide popularity, with approximately 2 billion monthly users.
