Google Shifts Focus from Cloud to Artificial Intelligence

Google has announced that it will downsize its cloud systems to allocate more resources to artificial intelligence. Some employees working in the cloud unit at Google have been laid off. The company stated that this move is aimed at fueling business growth and investments in artificial intelligence. The decision came after a slowdown in growth in the company’s cloud division. Additionally, it was announced that the company will significantly invest in artificial intelligence. In January, Google had invested $1 billion in the rival of OpenAI, Anthropic. It was also reported that the company is preparing for a $20 billion investment in renewable energy to power artificial intelligence. The tech company had implemented significant workforce changes, including a voluntary exit program for Pixel and Android teams. Despite the layoffs, Google Cloud is expected to remain a key part of the company’s focus on artificial intelligence-driven growth.
