The upcoming Google Tensor G5 chipset aims to elevate the performance offered by the company’s Pixel phones to the next level. Production Support from TSMC Google has opted to leverage TSMC’s 3nm manufacturing process for the Tensor G5. While previous Tensor chipsets were produced by Samsung, this transition promises enhanced performance and energy efficiency. The advanced manufacturing technology from TSMC will boost the chipset’s processing power while optimizing energy consumption.

Next-Gen Graphics Power A significant innovation in graphics performance, the Tensor G5 will utilize Imagination Technologies’ IMG DXT GPU. Compared to the previous use of the Arm Mali-G715 GPU in this series, the new GPU is expected to deliver higher performance for gamers and graphics-intensive applications.

Special Image Processing Capability The camera performance of Pixel phones will receive a boost through Google’s specially designed Image Signal Processor (ISP). This dedicated ISP will offer various advantages, such as improved image quality, clearer photos in low light conditions, and enhanced video processing capabilities.

New Video Codec Integration The Tensor G5 will be equipped with the WAVE677DV video codec developed by Chips&Media. This codec will support a range of modern video formats like AV1, VP9, HEVC, and H.264, ensuring a smoother and higher-quality video experience.

Custom Design Components The chipset will comprise entirely custom designs like memory controller, system cache, and power management modules. This tailored design will enhance overall system efficiency and compatibility.
