Government in Gaza warns of “humanitarian collapse”

A written statement from the government’s media office in Gaza warned about the humanitarian collapse and mass deaths caused by Israel’s blockade in the region. The statement provided information about the humanitarian situation in the area. It cautioned that due to Israel’s systematic blockade and starvation policy in Gaza lasting over 6 months, the region had entered a complete phase of “humanitarian collapse.” The statement also highlighted that for more than a month and a half, humanitarian aid has been deliberately and continuously prevented from entering, worsening the situation.

MALNUTRITION ISSUE: The statement emphasized a real humanitarian disaster and a famine in all its aspects in the Gaza Strip, pointing out that hunger directly threatens the lives of civilians. It mentioned that more than 1.1 million children suffered severely from malnutrition due to limited food, water scarcity, a health system in almost complete disarray, and deprivation of basic needs. It also stated that service and humanitarian facilities were on the verge of total collapse, with hospitals operating at limited capacity, without medication or fuel. There was a concern raised about the possibility of all hospitals ceasing operations within the next two weeks due to fuel shortages.

BAKERIES SHUT DOWN: The statement reported that bakeries had ceased operations due to a lack of flour and resources, while water stations, especially desalination plants, had suspended their activities due to fuel shortages and deliberate power cuts. The government warned of the possibility of mass deaths at any moment due to hunger, inadequate healthcare services, and the spread of diseases. According to the government in Gaza and human rights and international reports, Israel had closed the border crossings in the Gaza Strip to food, aid, medical supplies, and products since March 2. This has significantly worsened the humanitarian situation for Palestinians.
