Greenpeace Protests US Arms Sales to Israel in the UK: 6 Arrested

Greenpeace UK Director and five other activists were arrested after pouring red paint into a pond at the US Embassy in the UK to protest arms sales to Israel. The protest took place in London, the capital of the UK. The police announced that six activists, including the Greenpeace UK Director, were detained.
Israel continued its attacks on Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria by breaking the ceasefire. The US arms sales to Israel are ongoing, even during the presidency of Donald Trump.
POURING 300 LITRES OF PAINT INTO THE POND According to Greenpeace’s statement, Will McCallum, who leads Greenpeace UK, and the activists arrived in the area with small trailers on bicycles, disguised as delivery workers, and poured red paint into the embassy’s pond.
McCallum and the others were detained on charges of “conspiring to cause criminal damage.” In the UK, this offense can lead to a prison sentence of up to 10 years. The Metropolitan Police has not yet responded to requests for comments on the matter. “WE TOOK ACTION BECAUSE US ARMS FUEL WAR” Areeba Hamid, Greenpeace’s Co-Executive Director, stated in her remarks that the paint used in the protest was “biodegradable” and could be cleaned with water naturally.
Hamid stated, “We took this action because US weapons continue to fuel a war where schools and hospitals are bombed, neighborhoods are completely destroyed, and the lives of tens of thousands of Palestinians are being erased, perpetuating a war that affects everyone indiscriminately.”
