Hamas responded to a new offer conveyed by mediators on the ceasefire. The Palestinian group announced that they have agreed to deliver an American hostage along with four bodies.

Hamas revealed that they received a proposal from mediators to resume Gaza ceasefire negotiations, which they have accepted. In their statement, Hamas mentioned that they agreed to release the Israeli-American citizen they have captured, Edan Alexander, and to deliver the bodies of four hostages.

WHAT WAS THE NEW OFFER FROM THE US? The US Middle East Special Envoy, Steve Witkoff, presented a new proposal to Hamas, suggesting an extension of the ceasefire in Gaza Strip in exchange for delivering 5 hostages and 10 bodies of deceased hostages. It was reported that Witkoff conveyed this offer to mediators and the Israeli delegation in the Qatari capital, Doha. According to the US proposal, Israel and Hamas will use the extended period to negotiate a long-term ceasefire in Gaza. In case a long-term ceasefire agreement is reached, all remaining hostages will be released on the last day of the extended ceasefire.
