Hamas: Actions in Haifa in Response to Israeli Attacks

Hamas has called the incidents of “vehicular ramming and stabbing attacks” near the city of Haifa a response to the escalating Israeli attacks on the occupied West Bank, Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the Muslim holy sites. The group urged Palestinians to “escalate resistance” against Israel. In a statement, Hamas expressed that these actions were a courageous and natural response to the attacks, attempts to Judaize the West Bank, and Israeli efforts to seize Al-Aqsa Mosque, Ibrahim Mosque, and our sanctities. The statement conveyed a message of there being heroic resistance fighters and free revolutionaries in every inch of Palestinian land, who will never give up their rights and will continue the resistance until the end of the occupation. Hamas called on Palestinians to show more determination, resist the occupation, and escalate the resistance. In an attack on a bus stop with a vehicle, 8 people were wounded, with 3 in serious condition and 2 in moderate condition according to Israel’s Magen David Adom emergency service. Israel’s Kan state television reported that the perpetrator of the attack was a 24-year-old Palestinian. Since an 19th January ceasefire in Gaza, the Israeli army initiated an attack called “Iron Wall” on 21st January in the northern West Bank city of Jenin. The Israeli army expanded the attacks to include the El-Faria Refugee Camp in Tubas to Tamun town on 2nd February after targeting Tulkarm on 27th January. Israeli forces withdrew from Tamun on 8th February after a 7-day siege. On 9th February, Israeli soldiers expanded their attacks to include the Nur Shams Refugee Camp east of Tulkarm. At least 63 Palestinians have died and thousands have been injured, with widespread destruction of buildings and infrastructure since the Israeli attacks began on 21st January. In attacks by Israeli settlers and soldiers who have been occupying Palestinian lands since October 7, 2023, 927 Palestinians, including 168 children, have lost their lives, with nearly 7,000 people injured in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
