Heavy Fine of 455 Million Lira for Excessive Pricing

The Ministry of Trade imposed administrative fines totaling 455 million Turkish Lira in the first two months of the year as part of efforts to combat excessive pricing. According to a statement from the Ministry of Trade, 85,238 individuals and legal entities were inspected during the first two months of 2025. Within the scope of these inspections, a total of 17,395 companies were fined a total of 454,350,859 lira. In February alone, fines amounting to 309,973,559 lira were issued to 9,606 companies. Inspections for excessive pricing in sectors such as automotive, stockpiling, real estate, jewelry, and supermarkets resulted in 22,033 individuals and legal entities being inspected in the first two months of the year, with a total of 629 individuals and legal entities fined a total of 154 million lira. Of this administrative fine, 126.7 million lira was specifically for violations related to excessive pricing.
